Explore Þórsmörk – The Valley of Thor

Nestled between three glaciers—Tindfjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull, and the infamous Eyjafjallajökull (which erupted in 2010)—Þórsmörk, or “Thor’s Forest,” is one of Iceland’s most cherished natural treasures.

For many Icelanders, Þórsmörk holds a special place in their hearts, offering a sense of tranquility and wonder like no other. Its untouched volcanic landscapes, glacial rivers, and lush greenery create a unique atmosphere that must be experienced to be believed.

What to Expect

Þórsmörk is Icelandic nature at its finest. Our tour focuses on one main hike for the day, allowing you to immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes of the area. The hike will take you through diverse terrain, from uneven paths to more challenging slopes, with views that will leave you in awe. Depending on your group’s preferences and fitness level, we’ll choose the perfect route to suit everyone’s abilities.

Along the way back, we’ll make a few short stops to see some of the iconic sights, including Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, Gígjökull Glacier Outlet, and Stakkholtsgjá Canyon, but the majority of the day is spent enjoying the hike and the tranquility of Þórsmörk.

If hiking isn’t for you, check out our other options for exploring Þórsmörk at a more relaxed pace.
